  • Travelling to India immediately after getting green card

    Hi,

I have a few questions on my parent travelling abroad immediately after getting green card.

    1. He entered USA on a visitor visa and applied for AOS. Got green card in Jan mid 2018. He wants to go to India for 3 months from Feb end to May end for some medical and dental treatments. Is it OK to travel for this duration immediately 1 month after getting green card?
Does he need a re-renty permit?

    2. He has visited like multiple times on a visitor visa in the last 6 years and stayed for 6 months every time. Never overstayed nor was into secondary inspection. Will the previous visits on visitor visa be questioned if he tries to enter USA using green card?

    Thanks

    1. Yes, it is fine. No reentry permit is necessary.
    2. No.

I hope your parent is insured while in the US. If not, you can buy new immigrants health insurance at https://www.insubuy.com/new-immigrant-insurance/
