my mother files the I-130 for me in April of 2001 and sent it to Laguna Niguel, CA and recently because of my mother gaining citizenship the orginial I-130 was sent to the NVC. It took 7 yrs just to have to approved and sent to the NVC. And in all honesty, I have no idea of what to do next. Do I send in my I-485 or do I wait for the NVC to send me something? It's just so cunfusing and expensive too.

You do not want to send in any forms you download from the USCIS website unless they send you one to fill up. It will delay your case. Every document they send you is accompanied by a barcode document. I made mistake when I send in for my brother and also notarized my doc which was rejected because it's not the one they send you with the barcode. Wasted some money there as each signature is $10. Also, don't forget that any forms they ask you to send in you have to pay the fee by cashier's check first. No personal check is accepted. Trouble is they don't tell you specifically about paying in their letter but just telling you to submit the form.
