  • Name differences in mother's greencard application

I am preparing to file for a greencard / permanent residency for my mother using Form I-130 and Form 1-485. I am a US Citizen and my mother is currently in the US.

My birth certificate has my mother's maiden name without any surname while her passport and birth certificate has her married name and surname. I do not have any supporting documents to certify/affidavit this name difference.

What should I do? Do I just go ahead and file the application with the documents I have?

    Thanks for your help.

    mother's name

You can enclose your mother's marriage certificate which shows her name change from her maiden name to her married name. Or, you can have your relatives who attended your mother's marriage to write on a stamp paper and certify that her name changed from maiden name to married name upon her marriage.
