Non-availibility Certificate from Birth registrar Mumbai ward office

I had applied for search on my mother's Birth Certificate in Mumbai Municipal ward office who was born in 1937. They could not find her birth record in ward office as well as in Head office at Crawford market. Information as to in which hospital she was born is not available as parents have expired decades ago.

Ward officer in Birth Registration office does not want to issue Nonavailibility Certificate.

I am unable to get someone older than her who knows about her birth.

Please guide me what can I do in this matter?

Hello, I am exactly in the same situation:
My father was born in 1933 Aligarh, India. All of his older relatives and parents who could've provided the affidavits to affirm his place and date of birth have passed away.
For past 2 1/2 months I have been trying to get Non-availability Birth Certificate but no success. Over a phone conversation a gentleman in the office told me that the Birth Certificates or even registering a birth was not established until 1969. They can provide a Non-availability of Birth Certificate for the births occurred after 1969 but not before it.
Please help.

In that case, ask them to write a letter indicating that they are unable to provide non-availability certificate for any births prior to 1969. Take that letter to your attorney and ask him/her whether it would do.

Officer insists that unless we bring additional proof of Birth in Mumbai, such as, Hospital Birth record then he may look into this matter. But we dont know in which hospital the birth had taken place.

My guess is that they are looking for some bribe. Because they have to provide the non-availability certificate.

Hi, I want to apply for my birth details- time and date. From which office will I get my birth record (1-11-1982). I was born in Bandra- H ward, but which hospital i do not know. how do I get the details i have the birth certificate with me.
Can any one pls guide me on the same?
Can I get from the head office, Where and How?

Plot, I had problems getting my fathers birth certificate who was born in 1941.
After going rounds with BMC office in mumbai..I directly called the BMC commisioners office and explained my problem in a frustrated tone.
Next day i was called at the BMC office and collected the certificate.
So please dont loose heart. DONT BRIBE any GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL and you will be in more trouble. If they ask you indirectly for any favours you can contact the vigilance department at worli. You can also meet the BMC Commisioner and present them US embasy's requirement when there is non availability of birth certificate.
Even at the time of police certificate they were un-necessarily troubling me and I met the DCP of My zone and complained about it. DCP called the officer and enquired why PCC is being held..With DCP taking control of my file ..he immediately issued my PCC.

I know you are getting frustrated ...But dont loose heart..just fight the red tapism and bureaucracy..Meet the senior authority..keep on complaining and following up.
