Immigrant F4 Visa

Hi,

I'm looking for feeback about the F4 Visa, which is not the Student Visa but the Family based immigration
I'm in the Fourth Category, my brother is American, i'm 24.

My questions are :

- How does it work?
- How long does it take YOU to get an F4 Visa? I know it takes years but i want to know how long exactly in months or years, and
when the Immigration Services get in touch with you for the first time.
From your personal experience, because I couldn't find anything on the internet

- Is it a permanent visa or you need to renew it each year?
