How did you ask your SO to sponsor your GC?

I(F1 visa) am dating an american girl, and we are talking about getting married soon. But, right now we are not in the financial state where we can afford to have a big ceremony. How to I convey this to my gf along with the fact that we will have to sponsor my GC. I love her immensely and I don't want her to feel anything negative about me asking this as that will have a bad impact on our relationship, maybe I am just over thinking all this. We both love each other, we are living together, and we have been talking about getting married for a couple of months now. i just don't know how to tell her about the immigration paperwork part as I don't want to seem needy.

you can get married without all the ceremony. and if you think your SO isn't going to be cool with the paperwork, find another one

You might bring it up to her as a choice... like "Where do you see us building our lives together?" and if she says the US, then you can simply remind her that it's only possible with the green card process.

But I would not worry about it!! When you marry someone, it is because you want to be together, emotionally and physically

I think that if you are both in love and wanting to spend your lives together, you will not seem "needy" for bringing it up. It's unfortunately an extra legal requirement for those of us with mixed/international families. It's not you, it's the US government.
