  • Lawyer or not lawyer

I hope someone can help me. I am a permanent green card holder. I went to a lowyer for apply on a I130 for my wife and kids. Are n the Philippines at this time. The lawyer charged me $1500. I received a notice that the request was approved. And they will send me another letter with the instructions. Now, the lowyer to continue asked me an additionl $6500. Definitely never will be in the Philippines when the interview will be s hedule. My question is: i still need a lawyer for now on? Why asked me so much money?

Try to ask advice on immigration their and ask if those fees are worth it or the lawyer are making easy money from you.
I'm in love with cities I've never been to and people I've never met

You don’t necessarily need a lawyer from this point. Once the I-130 is approved, the next steps, consular processing, submitting documents, and attending the interview in the Philippines, can be handled on your own by following the instructions from the U.S. consulate. Some people choose to hire a CPG lawyer to help with document preparation and interview guidance, but this is optional. The lawyer asking for $6,500 is likely charging for this next phase, yet many applicants complete it themselves. You can wait for the consulate’s instructions and handle everything without paying the additional fees.
