Calling All F2A's (Spouses & Children of Permanent Residents)

I think I posted this before but didn't get a response. On the USCIS website I have been checking my case status and the last my case was updated was Oct 3rd. Ever since I filed my case it has been updated the first week of each month with the exception of this month. Should I be concerned that my file has not been "touched" this month? Should I call USCIS?

i call NVC 1 week ago coz its been 9 weeks since my application processed and completed, i still don't have my sched for interview, they told me that it takes too long coz there is no available date for interview schedule in our embassy they told me that they usually make schedule every second week of the month, which is this week...they adviced me to wait for an email regarding apointment for interview and getting physical examination. so i called 2 days ago to follow up on them,, and finally they gave me the appointment of my interview which is dec 20..i asked them how come i did not receive an email about my appointment.. if i did not call them i was not able to find out that it was sheduled dec20.. the guy that i spoke with told me to wait for an email for 3-5 days..i still do not have the email as of today... so im patiently waiting for the email to get physical examination and to get ready for my interiew... i asked them what to bring on the interview day.. just bring the letter that they will send by email, passport and the result of physical...

wow that's weird. I hope it doesn't take that long for me but anything is possible. I sent my DS-230 and now i'm waiting for them to close my case and to hear about the interview.

I have same question. My wife's PD is Oct 2010. She is in India. Case is being processed at Vermount USCIS center. What action I can take if PD becomes current while case is pending at USCIS?

As per Dec 2010 VB, looks like F2A will slow down or stop in near future. We will have better picture in Jan 2011 VB.

If you wife is in India, you cannot file for AOS until you got an approval notice for I-130.

thanks, my wife is in d phil. can i submit now document like marriage cert. police clearance, aos, even I130 still not approve? usually how long it will take after I130 approve to get a visa interview.. thanks

as fas as I understand, your priority date is not current yet. dec bulleting is AUG10
you can file only when your priority date becomes current.
if your i-130 won't be approved by that time, you can file with 797 receipt, considering that your wife legally entered and is staying in US.
it takes usually 4-5 month to get i-130 approved.

hi, im a green card holder and petition my wife last oct. under f2a, they sent me the receipt with priority date on it,(oct 17 2010) my question is..what happen if priority date become current but I 130 not yet approve? how long it will take I130 to be approve? i file it oct. 2010? after it approve they say ill wait onother one year is it true? thanks god bless....

you can file for AOS for your wife while the i-130 in pending if she is legally in the US.

That is true. People at NVC are numb nuts so please excuse them. If they require any further documents in relation to the DS-230 they will now send e-mails to you and the nominated third-party agent.

I sent my DS-230 on Nov 9(that's when it reached NVC) and then on Nov 15 they sent me a check list email asking for DS-230. Is this because they didn't start looking at my packet?

F. VISA AVAILABILITY IN THE COMING MONTHS
Family-sponsored: From early 2009 through September 2010, the level of demand for numbers in the Family-sponsored preference categories was very low. As a result, the cut-off dates for most Family preference categories were advanced at a very rapid pace, in an attempt to generate demand so that the annual numerical limits could be fully utilized. As readers were advised in previous Visa Bulletins providing projections of visa availability (e.g., April 2009, January 2010, May 2010, July 2010), such cut-off date advances could not continue indefinitely, and at some point they could slow, stop, or in some cases retrogress.
The level of demand which has been experienced during FY-2011 has resulted in most of the worldwide cut-off dates being held for the month of December. At this time it is not possible to predict when or if these dates may advance further, and there is a distinct possibility that retrogressions could occur as early as January if demand within the established cut-off dates does not appear to be subsiding.

It will take at least 4 weeks to hear something back - as per my experience.

Medical exam is supposed to be undertaken in the country of your consular processing.

As far as I know DS-230 is now an online process wherein you pay the IV fee bill and download the form and send the form to NVC with all the supporting documents. After NVC clears the DS-230 and the associated documents then it forwards the case to your local embassy.

hi visjig, just wanna know what is your priority date, when did your case got completed? how many weeks did you have to wait for an interview schedule?... thanks and goodluck on your interview. anyway, my pd is apr2008, case complete nov 8, 2010.
