I-130 same sex marriage bonafides checklist
Would someone look over the checklist of the evidence that we attached to our I-130?
Evidence of bonafide marriage.
(I'm not on the mortgage yet and we don't share a bank account.)
Some info: We're a same-sex couple and got married in a small city hall ceremony during the pandemic. We didn't have a celebration with family present because of the pandemic, plus family isn't easy because most of them are scattered across the globe. While my (beneficiary) parents would love to come once it's safe, my spouse's (petitioner) parents aren't quite as open-minded.
Evidence of bonafide marriage.
- Copy of document showing shared health insurance.
- Copy of document showing Ms.XYZ as Ms. ABC's designated beneficiary in the Teachers’ Retirement System (life insurance).
- Copy of Joint tax filing: Form 1040 (2020)
- Copy of shared phone bills
- Sworn affidavits by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship. (All are from friends. My (beneficiary) mom wants to, but doesn't speak/write English.)
- Mail addressed to both spouses. (friend's wedding invitation, holiday cards)
- Copies of photographs from our wedding ceremony, outings, and shared vacations.
