Hello everyone!I am a US citizen sponsoring green card for my mom(currently in the US). I am unemployed, stay at home mom. My husband lost his job as an execitive during Covid 2020 lay offs. We took a couple of years to travel and live. Now he is looking for a full time job but is having a very tough time. We need to sponsor my mom. Our taxes are filed jointly every year and reflect enough income per poverty guidelines. My husband also has an LLC registered under his name with barely any income. So the question is, are we qualified to financially sponsor mom only because we have claimed enough on our prior taxes?Do we need to be employed to file?Is it better to say my husband is unemployed other then having to deal with LLC prove of income? And I will need fill out form I 864 and he will fill out i864a, right?Thank you so much for any advice at all!

What mainly matters is current income, i.e. income that is coming in right now. Past year's incomes only serve as evidence for the stability of income. Do you guys have enough current income?

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
