  • Filing Greencard after Marrying to Citzen. Need some Guidance Please.

    Hello everyone,

I recently married to my girlfriend of 2 years. She is a US citizen and I am currently on H1B valid till 2012. We married only 3 weeks ago. I need to file my greencard and need some assistance.

    1. Do you people out there suggest filing it on my own or should I take lawyer assistance. I don't mind using an attorney but a good attorney is asking for couple of thousands as filing fees & its even hard to get his attention sometimes. If this is something I can handle on my own, I would be happy to do so.

    2. What Forms and supporting documentation do I need to fill and send?

I came here on Student visa. Finished my graduation. Got the H1. Met my wife. Got married. Both have good jobs and sufficient income.

    Thanks Much

Its a plain simple filing, all the information and forms are available on the USCIS website. Now if you make sufficient income and don't want to go through the hassle, you always have an option to hire an attorney to do the paper work.

Thanks for the response. Website doesn't clearly lists all forms that need to be filled for filing Greencard and the supporting documentation that need to be supplied. If you have that info. or see it on the USCIS website, please direct me to the link.

        Good Luck

Unfortunately you cannot cut and paste links on this site or else I would paste the link which is fairly long.
