  • Filing I864 Question

Hi, I am a married US citizen (naturalized). I am filing for my parents's immigration and filing I864 form. my spouse and I have joint income. For the three years of tax returns I have issue with the income. for past two years, the joint tax income (final income after adjustments as per required line to be written on the form) is 200k+ per year (2023/2024). However, due to owning business, our income income for third year (2022) was much below at 22k (overall income was higher but after expenses it came lower due to start of a new business, so the IRS line for total income came lower). Would I need to justify this or add additional assets? I have not filed 2025 tax forms yet, should I wait to file i864 until my taxes are done to ensure that income is above? or can I submit as is ? or do I need to add assets?

    Thanks!

    Hi,
I don't think it is needed to give clarification for reduced number. You are perfectly good to include 3 years tax documentations. Regarding 2025, If you could get it soon then you may wait for sometime and include with the petition. If it will take long time, then go ahead with previously submitted tax documentations.
    Thanks
