  • Birth certificate

    Hello,
My mother is old (> 65) and we don't have her Birth certificate. She was born in a small town far away from the place she now lives in. What options we can take (that are acceptable) for her Birth record/certificate. We were told that Birth certificate can be only obtained/registered from the place one was born in..which in our case is not feasible since its far away.

The option is a "birth certificate not available" affidavit--but that too has to be gotten from her birthplace (no way around that hurdle).

If I try to get that, I think they still need secondary documents. I have her 10th class school certificate, passport also provides info on birth place & date. Does any one know what additional documents need to be provided along with this non availability affidavit?
