akhan, did you get any responses on this? or did your case close?
Can you please give me an idea on how long it took?
For the benefit of all - sharing my experience here.
Background: US citizen marrying an Indian citizen
Feb 2011 - Got married
Mar 8th 2011 - All material given to lawyers (big big big mistake if you do not select the right lawyers. We used Hines & Leigh PC and they were pretty much useless. Added no value to the process whatsoever).
March 21st - I-130 sent by lawyers to INS
March 23rd - I-130 received by INS
June 24th - 93 days later, I-130 approved and moved to NVC
Aug 6th - As we hadn't heard back from NVC, we started calling after 30 days, and after 3 calls we got the request for payment from NVC
Aug 15th - Lawyers, in their relaxes fashion, let us know that we need to get the PCC before they can send documents requested to NVC. So the PCC sage began
Sept 21st - After 36 days and a lot of struggle, PCC obtained from India. For all those asking questions about PCC on this forum, almost all the answers I have read on this forum are wrong. Just FYI. Your best bet - step 1: call the NVC and ask them where they want the PCC from. explain your india living situation and past residences etc., and they will patiently give you a response on what they want and where to get a PCC from. step 2: let the tap dance begin with passport office. ours was the chennai office. u just HAVE to go stand in line every day and keep begging them to get it done. else "it will be in the system" but "wait for some time. we will work on it later". a bottle of glycerine works. sad but true.
Sept 26th - all documents requested received by the NVC.
Now the wait begins again. We are now anxiously waiting to hear from the NVC on when the interview date will be:
1) Any guidance or experience sharing on how long the NVC took to respond after they got all the documents?
2) Any guidance on what is the typical lead time when they let you know you have an interview? Do they schedule it 1 month from the date they notify you? 2 months? 3? 6?
thanks in advance to all for sharing their experience!
