Not long ago I got married to a US citizen and we are about to apply for my green card. The problem is he doesnt have taxes which are required, so he cannot be my sponsor.
Could You please tell me if you have to be a citizen of the US to be an I-864 sponsor or any holder of the green card is eligible to be a sponsor if he has the required income?

A Green card holder can also file I-864 for you as co-sponser.

Your petitioner has to be the sponsor even if he does not have an income or is not filing tax. But you need a co-sponsor to meet the min. poverty guidelines. A co-sponsor can be a US citizen or LPR.
