  • Parents GC: Pros and Cons

Do parents sponsored for green card, by a US citizen, entitled to the following privileges:

    1. Social Security Number, Card; and Social security wages

    2. Can they be claimed as dependents on IRS if they maintain their GC status?

    3. Will they be entitled to comprehensive medical coverage as part of Person+Family plan, in say Kaiser HMO?

    4. Do they get Medicare, SS benefits on par with other senior citizens in US?

    5. How long does it take to obtain GC for parents, sponsored by a US citizen son?

I would really appreciate any help in this regard. I personally do not know anyone who has done this, or has first hand experience.

Any other information/pointers that I might not have thought of?

    Thanks much in advance.
