  • married to US citizen outside us - advice

    Hi all,

I am looking for a bit if advice.

I got married to my wife on September 30 2011 in Tulum, Mexico. She is a US citizen and I am from the UK.

Currently we are both living in Honduras on tourist visas. She is also pregnant. We will be looking at moving to the US in the near future so wanted to start on my green card process.

What is the process to go about this. I cannot find any info on this when we both live in a country that isn't our official residence. We obviously do not want o be apart from each other!

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
    Rich

You cannot start the immigrant visa process in a country where you are both visitors ( honduras).
US embassy in honduras won't allow that.
If she wants to petition for you while remaining with you, she has to move to UK, live there for 6 months on a long term visa ( work visa, resident visa) and then she can start the petition process for you in the UK.
