After Getting I-140 approval Can i go back to India

We are on H1 B visa and complete our 6 yrs of visa in May.. we got I-140 Approval. So my question is that If I go back to India my green card will be still in process or My I-140 will be canceled.
What should we do if we go back to india.
Please Help

Your I140 will be active as long as the petitioner (your current/prospective employer) cancels it.
