  • I-140 form?

I just wanted a clarification. In the I-140 form that
I filled out (given by my attorney), I chose Chennai for
CP in Part 4. BUT, when I went to the INS web site and
checked out the I-140 form there, the Part 4 seems to
have a different format ... Did I fill out an old form?
    Will this make a difference?

    Thanks for your responses.

Just look at the printing date at the bottom of the form and you should use the latest form.

Thanks for your reply. I think the form that my attorney
submitted has a rev. date of 12/91 and it is definitely
a lot older than the form on the INS web site. My attorney
how ever says that she has been using the form all along
and never had a problem with it. Have you seen any problems
      with this issue before?

          old form part 4

          Hi KBR,

I also got the same old form from attorney.
Filling Part 4 with Consulate implies that
CP is being opted? Part 4 of old form says
if AOS is not granted which consulate need
to be informed. It doesnt say whether CP is
          being chosen or not.

Pl throw some light on this if u hv info.

          Thanks in adv.

            Re: old form part 4

            Here is what I did:

I filled out Chennai, India in Part 4 (old form). Just
above that my attorney typed "Please send for Consular
Processing". I will wait and see what happens.

If you want to be doubly sure, have your attorney
call the INS line once you get your receipt notice and confirm that the case is to be sent for CP ... I believe they can tell the IIO who answers the phone ... they can then put a note in the computer ... so if some one, misses
the note on the I-140, he will atleast have another chance to correct it.
