I-140 assigned on 7/10 but need to change from EB2

Hi immihelp,
My I-140 (RIR EB-2) was assigned on 7/10/00 and I haven't heard anything since then. Does anybody know normally how long does it take for a case to be processed after it has been assigned? My case is a little complicated. My case was intended to file under EB-3, however there's been a mistake and it bacame EB-2. I didn't find out that until 7/19 (RD 4/27/00) and my lawyer faxed an amendment right away and called CSC twice after that to follow up w/o getting a confirm answer if it has been corrected. Will they take that or do I need to redo a LC and refile an EB-3 I-140?

Called INS

My lawyer called INS last month when she was trying to correct the mistake and an IIO told her that my case was assigned on 7/10/00. BUT! GUESS WHAT? I called INS again this afternoon just to make sure the correction has been made, an IIO told me a different date! He said that my case was assigned on 8/3/00!!! What's going on here? I'm so confused!

IMMIHELP, PLEASE HELP!!!!
