  • CP Interview Appt. letter delayed in mail

I am applying for an Immigrant Visa via Consular Processing in Mumbai.

    Case No: BMB2000758023
    Category: E2
    Appointment Date: 12/15/00 09:30:00

As per the US Consulate (Mumbai) web-site appointment list, my interview is scheduled on December 15th 2000. However, I haven't yet received the Packet IV in the mail. I do have all the necessary documents contained in Packet IV ready
(OF 230-part II, Form 9003). However, I don't have the appointment letter. Perhaps it has been delayed in the mail. The packet should be addressed to my attorney in San Jose, California. However, since I am scheduled to be in Mumbai soon, I am afraid I might not receive it in
    time.

Would this cause me problems in taking the medical exam, and also gaining entry into the US Consulate, Mumbai at the time of the interview? Or would other documents including Packet III be sufficient evidence? Please advise.

    Thanks,
    Hemang.

    IV interview letter

It will take about 3 weeks [after the website posting] for you to receive the letter in the mail here. You can have someone [you know] in Mumbai pick up the letter from the front window at the consulate. Tell that person to provide your name, the Case No, Category and Appointment Date: 12/15/00 09:30:00 to the consulate.

I had my uncle pick it up for me. I received the letter from the consulate in about 2 and a half weeks.

      Re: IV interview letter

Thanks for the quick reply. Did you have your uncle request the consulate in advance about this, or did he just go ask them at the front desk?

        Authorization Letter May be Needed

I remember having read on this board that you need to provide an authorization letter to the person who will go to collect your duplicate P4. If you dig back (around 11/14), you will find the format of this letter in one of the postings. You can fax this letter to your relative.

          appt. letter

I did this back in July. Back then no authorized letter was needed. My uncle simply went with my case # and such details at the window.
