First of all, I must thank Immihelp for maintaining such an excellent portal. I gained a lot not only from the discussion boards but also from general information in this portal. I have gained more from this site than any other.
Lister labs in Nungambakkam (in lane opposite Hotel Ganpat) will be crowded but it is like clockwork here. I got my reports and X-ray in a black envelope and my wife in a different colored one. But nothing to worry, does not mean anything at all. My children (as any other children under 15) were not subject to any investigations. No blood drawing or x-rays. Lister has nothing to do with them.
The new panel of doctors do not does not include Surima. Dr. Rajkumar (Club Road near Chetpet RTO office) is fine. He accepts all US records. He takes your word for the vaccinations you had as a child except for MMR (400 Rs.) for which CDC requires a dated record. I did not have any after effects from the vaccination. My childrens report and mine were open as he did not have any findings but my wife’s report was sealed. Nothing to worry. He has to seal the envelope once he has a finding (asthma) to report. The doc was kind enough to explain what he was doing and what findings can potentially cause problems.
My CP interview was very smooth. We were called in first, perhaps because we had children. No questions were asked. The only additional document that the Indian official asked me was my 1999 tax returns. He took out some sheets from the returns and attached them with other supporting documents. A good idea to take copies of ALL the documents if one wishes to keep any. Collected the immigrant visa in the evening.
At POE (Atlanta), again no questions asked, but the officer said that my photo with signature was enclosed whereas the consulate should have enclosed one without the signature. Then my daughter’s photo had holes from stapling. So we needed new photos. Again not to worry, he had a Polaroid camera ready and took our pictures. A good idea to carry the extra copies of the IV pictures. The officer mentioned that we will be getting our cards by mail to the address mentioned on the Visa in a year or two?!!? Hope he was just giving the worst scenario. The I 551 stamp is made out for a 2 year validity. He said this stamp is an equivalent to the green card and I can do all the stuff that one can with a real card. That’s it folks, I entered the country with a different status.
Thanks to all who contributed their mite to make this a better informed process and all the best those seeking GC via CP.
Love one and ALL.
