  • Indian Passport renewal - Names Printed wrongly in New Passport - Help Please

    Hi All,
I have renewed my son's passport through postal in NewYork and got the new passport just Apr 19 2013.
In the new passport the Given Name and Surname of my kid is SWAPPED. I'm really worried.
    Example
Correct Name in old passport (Given Name ) (Surname) - ( ABCD) ( XYZ )
    Printed Name in new passport (Given Name ) ( Surname ) - ( XYZ ) ( ABCD )

But the names in old passport is the right one.

I 'm really confused how to proceed from herein. When we called the VFS global customer service , I spoke with 2 different agents and they both gave 2 different procedures.

    1) please advise me how to proceed with this confused situation.
    2) Is it better to go the NewYork consulate general office directly ? If so, will I be able to get the passport on the same day in hand ?
    3) I have to travel from Ohio to NewYork for this. I don't mind it, I will so good if I get the correct passport in hand.
    4) kindly give me the link to get the appointment from NewYork embassy, not VFS global NewYork location appointment.

    Thanks for reading this post.
I really appreciate if you are able to help even a little info also about this.

    Thanks again!

    Incorrect information on Renewed passport

    Hi

I renewed my passport at the NY BLS center and have a similar issue in my new(renewed) passport. What process did you follow to correct the passport info?
Is going in person the only way to take care of corrections?
I have tried calling all the given helpline numbers but haven't been able to get in touch with a single agent to give me appropriate information.
Will it be sufficient to send them my new passport with a copy of the original application and a cover letter with the issues stated for correction of my passport or should I post my old and new passports together in order to request correction?

    Thanks in advance

Indian Passport renewal - Names Printed wrongly in New Passport - Help Please

      Hi,
Im having a similar situation where my First name and last name have been swapped. I cannot believe such mistakes happen inspite of having the process digital. I called the SFO BLS office to explain the situation. They asked me to send back the passport with a covering letter. They charged $30 as return shipping charges. The latest Status on the passprt Tracking website has been "Passport Received Back from Consulate or Embassy after Correction at BLS" since 3 weeks. Im trying to call their helpline number but it is not been picked by anyone. Im finding hard time here. If someone has any advice, please help.

These guys screw up everyone. Even my fiance in her passport they screwed up her name and added an extra A in her middle name. Everywhere else it is correct but only in her new passport they screwed it up. She also never checked anything and she also kept the passport like that since she never went anywhere abroad. So, since she did not go anywhere she never looked at it at all, and now she is coming to US she is now seeing this ****. I do not understand how can these Indian authorities be stupid in spelling names or swapping names. God help us and our country.

They screw up birth dates and names. They cannot write one **** properly.
