Hello,
I have a situation where my passport is expiring in May 2014 and my child's (minor) passport is expiring in Jan 2014. I understand that from this (new) website of BLS India that my passport would need to be re-issued vs renewed since it would complete 10 years. Hence my passport number/booklet will change.
Given the above, I need answers/advice from some experts, for the following questions:
1. If I renew my child's passport now, it would have entry of my current passport's number. Would this be a problem when my passport expires after about 6 months from now? Or will I have to renew the child's passport again after mine expires?
2. Can I get my passport re-issued (not renewed) now even before it expires? Then I can wait until I get my passport and then re-issue my child's passport. This way, I would not have to renew my child's passport again.
3. For minor's passport re-issue, the new website indicates that parents need to be physically present at the counter. Can I not do a postal form?
4. Not probably for this site but still. For tax purposes, I had to get ITIN for my child recently. Again, will this need to be re-got since upon passport re-issue, the passport number would change?
