Response from Indian consulate, sort of!

I have so far sent 3 e-mails to BLS and every time I get a response asking me to submit same forms again and never get a reply back when I submit all the information for refund. i have lost $1190 for 4 OCi applications.

I have sent 2 e-mails to indian consulate. after my last e-mail I got following automated response:

"Thankyou for your email. To help us process your query quickly, please click on this link and fill up the details
https://www.indianembassy.org/vpc_enquiry.php"

Only problem is, when I click on above link, it is a bad link and does not get you anywhere. Figures, this is how indian govt. treats its citizens. I have lost all hope that we will get our money back. I am now even afraid to send a new OCI application to the new vendor. No matter which party is in power in New Delhi, bureaucracy and corruption is never going to change. TOTALLY DISGUSTED.

Thanks, Sunny. It worked. i have sent in the complaint. I doubt if they will do anything.

If anyone gets response back from Indian consulate or gets the refund from BLS please let all of us know with details.

I applied for OCI (via BLS) on 1/2/14 and just received it last week...yes a 6.5 month process. I fully understand all the frustrations here and let me tell you that the entire process is broken at multiple levels. We get treated poorly as Indians and as non-Indians. India apparently does not discriminate. Here is how everything broke down for me:

BLS
Took them multiple months to tell me that a piece of information was missing, even after I submitted the application in person at the BLS office after their review. This was time lost!! Never answered the phone and could never tell me where the application was. Fortunately for me, I was able to confirm that they sent my application to the embassy before they dropped off the face of the earth

Indian Embassy
Sat on my application for god know how long without sending it to India. After calling the consulate number for weeks I finally got through to someone who *****ally listened, and the next day my application was sent to India (why was it sitting for so long???). The people working there are rude and hung up on me multiple times when they couldn't give me an answer

Ministry in India
Had stopped printing the OCI booklets because they were running low on the booklets. WTF? So there was a backlog here too....

CKGS
Caught in the middle of all this, they are clueless as to how to answer people who are frustrated with the entire process. However, they were great to work with and at least did not hang up the phone. Instead they worked to get my passport to the embassy for match up quickly, and pushed to get it back. I hope for the sake of all the people who have to deal with this process that CKGS will do a better job thAn BLS.

There is no optimism or silver lining in any of this. The entire system is broken, and run by unsympathetic people. My advice is to apply for OCI if you know you will not need it for 6 months. Keep pestering everyone involved until you are convinced that your application has proceeded to the next step. Be proactive and don't rely on anyone getting their work done automatically

I just got my application returned after a month. No check inside, so they must have cashed. No explanation also. It feels like they just stole our money without providing any service. Not sure what the next step should be.

Already put a refund issue from BLS International to media, I would suggest if anybody who has hard time getting refund from BLS International or regards India Embassy doesn't care about this issue. This is for people that file OCI/PIO/Visa in New York area, call or input a complaint to Howard from Channel 11 news.
