I am guessing this questions has already been asked but I could not find any thread which clears my question.
My Wife is an Indonesian Citizen and I am an Indian Citizen living in US on H1 and H4 visas respectively.
Can she apply for PIO card?
As per the rules I thought she can apply and prepared my documents but when I called Cox and Kings they mentioned she cannot because she has to have a blood relation to person of Indian origin that made me so confused now. They also mentioned my application will get rejected if I apply. The rules states as follows in Indian Consulate Chicago.
My questions is if any spouse has to be related to person of Indian origin (as per Cox and Kings representative) they why would Indian consulate has point 3 ? (first and second will suffice all the time).

Every person of Indian origin who is a citizen of another country, NOT being a citizen of any country that may be specified by the Government of India from time to time, will be eligible to apply for PIO Card if:
1. The person at any time held an Indian passport; or
2. The person or either of his/her parents or grand parents or great grand parents was born in, and was permanently resident in India, provided further that neither was at any time a citizen of any of the aforesaid excluded countries; or
3. The person is the spouse of a citizen of India or a person of Indian origin covered under (1) or (2) above.
Presently, the specified countries in this regard are Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Afghanistan, China and Nepal. Citizens of these countries are not eligible to get PIO cards. Detailed information on the PIO Scheme is available on the website: www.mha.nic.in
If anyone can give me information regarding this I would really appreciate this. Also if anyone applied PIO like the case of mine and had success please let me know.
