  • Help WIth OCI Timeline, NY

    Hello:

My wife applied for OCI and so far the timeline of her application at CKGS looks like this:

Your application has been processed at the CKGS Application Centre and is in transit to the Indian Embassy/Consulate for decision making. Please continue tracking your application status online. 03/20/2015
Your application is in process. Your tracking id is YYYY YYYY 02/12/2015
Your application has been 'Received' and is 'Under Process' in CKGS 02/12/2015

What bothers us is that it took CKGS over a month to submit her application to the Indian Embassy/Consulate.

So, our questions to the helpful members of this forum are:

    1. When can she expect to get her OCI card?
    2. Any other suggestions that members might have - we are planning to travel to India in early May.

    TIA for your help!

Based on my recent experience, expect to get it in about 6 weeks assuming normal processing timeline without abnormal delays or complications. The OCI card is printed in about 4 weeks, and then the rest of it ( mailing to NY, passport matchup). All the best.

[QUOTE=dce3535;392977]Based on my recent experience, expect to get it in about 6 weeks ( from 3/20/15) assuming normal processing timeline without abnormal delays or complications. The OCI card is printed in about 4 weeks, and then the rest of it ( mailing to NY, passport matchup). All the best.

Follow the progress of your application on the Govt of India website, and based on some recent reports , you can send your passports for matchup to CKGS as soon as the OCI card is printed/mailed, rather than waiting for their email notice asking you to send your passports for matchup, saving you a couple of days, as you are cutting it very close

Consider the visa on arrival and be familiar with the process/requirements if that is what you end up having to do.
Talk to CKGS and ask them what your options are if you do not get the OCI card before May.

        All the best!
