recently external affairs minstry has decided to accept affidavits for various reasons as per No. V.I/40112412oo2
Ministry of External Affairs CPV Division New Delhi 22"a Janu.ary,2O74 CIRCULAR Subject: Acceptance of Affidavits sworn before/attested by Executive
Magistrate. This is in India. However persons of Indian orgin, find it difficult to get easily domicile or nativity, which is asked for for oci application.
Factually, the collector/mamlatadar, it takes 2/3 months to do this and also records 20 years or older, is difficult to find them and there is long que and waiting to
get such nativity or domicile certificate, also one has to be present in India, to get such a certificate , specially domicile certificate, So when Person of Indian origin is
abroad, it makes it more difficult to obtain such a documents. As you can see in India, the External Affairs Ministry has decided to accept affdavits for indian passport, and
as oci is a similar to indian passport, i feel strongly that Government of India and External Affairs ministry should do something to accept affdavits in place of such documetns
to prove once indian origin, on the basis of school certificate, college certificate, and work expereience in india and other factors .This would help lot of suffering Persons of Indian
origin abroad.
