  • Original Passport Requirement for OCI- Wash DC?

    Folks,

For those applied for OCI recently, have you sent your original US passport in the beginning itself? I'm applying for my wife and kids and hate to send out all 4 original US passports via mail. I'm applying to the Washington DC office. If you did send them, when did u receive them back. Did you send out another prepaid label for them? My reservations:

1- Just hate to send out originals via mail to the DC office
2- I might have to travel to UK in 2 weeks am afraid I will not get them back.

I'm not sure all CKGS reps are aware of the changing doc needs. They ask us to look at website, which isn't updated regularly. What did u guys do? Can you share your thoughts and experiences?

    Thanks,
    DCM

Looks like CKGS has some bot that reads this forum and replies with above standard reply.
Why else would it ask for link to this post in email?

If there was human being reading this forum the he/she would have given some helpful reply right here.
For example, reply could have easily said one of the following:
        a) there is no change to policy
        b) policy is changed and we are working on updating the website
        c) no originals need to be sent
        d) some specific reply
        e) any other stuff to indicate human is replying

I'm sure, all above will be quoted and I will be asked to send email with copy of this post. :-)
