  • Can I apply OCI card during my H1 renewal

    Hi,

Can we apply for PIO to OCI card with just the H1 renewal receipt from USICS?

My wife is on H1 currently and I am in a process of my H1 extension can we apply for OCI card only with her H1 documentation?

    Thank you!

    Just an additional question.

Is the process converting PIO to OCI faster if we attend personally to an Indian consulate in US or applying through printing and sending via an mail?

No, you have to wait for granted valid visa status copy

I thought PIO and/or OCI is applicable only to those who have obtained citizenship of another country.

I'm very curious how you got PIO card while on H1 and now want to convert to OCI.

If you are on H1, you ARE Indian Resident Citizen. What am I missing?
