Please do not plan to travel to India if you have a Travel document. CKGS customer service is the worst one. I called CKGS customer service on May before I applied for my visa and asked them the processing time. They said they do give visa for US travel document and it would take 4 to 8 weeks. So I submitted on May 27th and still didn't receive the visa. I am calling them almost every day. If I call the customer service, they keep me on hold for 30 mins and say they cannot do anything instead I have to wait. When I call the embassy they say "do not call us,You are wasting my time". It has been 17 weeks now(processing time they mentioned 4-8 weeks). Now when I call the CKGS, they are telling me that in the past, it is very rare that they have issued a visa for Travel Document. Seriously??????? Did they wait 4 months to say this? They are suggesting for me to withdraw the passport and apply elsewhere.
Do you know that a travel document is always valid only for 1 year. My document was with CKGS and embassy for almost 4 and half months now. My travel document will expire on Jan 2017, which means it has only 4 months valid. If I withdraw the travel document I can't apply for visa anywhere else because I do not have 6 months valid in the travel document.(Most countries expect the document for valid for at least 6 months) At least if CKGS had told me two months ago that there are very rare chances for the visa I could have applied somewhere else. Why does CKGS do that? Take the money, wait for 4 months and say There is no hope. Now I have no visa, all my money I spent for the travel document($1000 -for my husband and myself),my time, everything is wasted. I have tried emailing the embassy, External affair minister,CKGS and others. No visa
