  • Minor - New passport and old PIO card

    Hi,
Could anyone please help me out or direct me to any link that has the information?

My son has U.S. passport and PIO card. His U.S. passport got expired and so, I applied for a new U.S. passport (not passport renewal) and got a new U.S. passport.
    1. Does he need to apply for OCI as his PIO card has the old passport number?

    2. Can he get a stamp in the PIO and still use the same PIO?

    3. Can he travel to India in Dec with his new passport and the PIO card which has the old passport details?

Any information would be greatly helpful. Thanks in advance!

Based on reading the threads here for my own situation,
    1. No need to apply for OCI, but Indian govt would like you to do so.
    2. Yes, he can ask for Lifetime stamp (i believe on exit from India when returning to USA)
    3. Yes, as long as you keep the old passport that's linked to PIO with you as well. SO have 3 things: New US Passport + PIO + Old US Passport linked to PIO

    So what ended up happening???
