Expiring Passport - Renewal in India - Please HELP!!!

Hi All,

My wife is currently on dependent visa and her passport is expiring in June 2017. We have to make an urgent trip to India and are leaving on this month end. We dont have enough time to renew the passport in the united states. I was wondering if I can renew my wife's passport in India. The problem is I dont have address proof for address in India. Can I use the address proof for U.S address and renew my passport in India? I need to get my visa stamped after renewing the passport and all this needs to be done in our 5 weeks trip. I am little worried. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My advice is to get the passport from USA. In India it will take long time if you are not staying in your current address for one year .
