  • Travelling on OCI

I have received OCI card just today. It is basically a booklet.
    I have below questions,
    1. To travel to India, do I have to do anything other than carrying OCI card and US Passport ?
    2. As a part of OCI application we also had applied for renunciation and had submitted original Indian passport.
I have not received it back. I know that I will not be able to use Indian passport for any purpose, but I was under impression that we still get it back with CANCELLED stamped on it.
Is it not the case ?

    Appreciate your response.

The first step is to get back the cancelled passport and renunciation certificate which you should keep it for records. you need to ask them that you have not received it yet. for travel all you need is oci + us passport. i dont think officers in airport would ask for renunciation because oci is not issued if you are not renunciated. hope that helps.

OCI card + US PP is all you would need when you travel to India. However, it's in your best interest to follow up on the Renunciation Cert and Indian PP.

Re: the other poster's view "oci is not issued if you are not renunciated" - it's true now, but was not the case when some of us got our OCIs many years ago.
