We are a family of 4 applying for OCI cards. For myself and my husband we also have to apply for the renounciation. From what I understand I have to submit return shipping fees of $30 for each application. That alone comes to around $150. It is cheaper for me to buy my own return label and send it but their site is confusing because they are saying they are not responsible to drop off at the carrier. What is everyone doing? Any help will be appreciated. Please and Thank you.

2. My understanding is that OCI requires THREE labels. One from you to CKGS. Two from CKGS back to you (one is for U.S. passport return and one is for OCI return).
That is $15 X 3 = $45.
I applied to San Francisco CKGS for Renunciation Only and chose "Use my own airway carrier" shipping method and chose "USPS" option for outgoing (me to CKGS). There is a bug in the CKGS website and it does not list "USPS" option for return delivery (CKGS to me). I called the CKGS SF office to tell them USPS option is not listed for return delivery and they told me to select one of the alternate carriers listed and they will sort it out. I think I put in "DHL".
As I recall, One USPS envelope and label cost about $7. So it was half the price of the $15 FedEx.
3. I am surprised they do not allow single delivery for family. But then again the whole process looks to be a confusing scam.Last edited by ravifremont; 05-15-2017, 08:31 PM.

Applying at the Chicago office
Apparently, USPS labels expire so they don't accept it. They don't have enough info on the site and yes to say it's confusing it putting it mildly. Thank you for your reply. I'll do the same but with UPS.

1. Will you be selecting USPS for submission and UPS for return? I believe USPS is acceptable for submission but not accepted for return, Or are you choosing UPS both ways?
2. I have already entered USPS for return and now I know it is not accepted... I will try to change it online if it will allow me. I don't think it allows me to change carrier -- only the tracking number.
3. I am not clear on what they mean by "We will not drop off at carrier...". If they do not drop off at carrier like DHL or whomever, why is it even listed as a shipping option? Why don't they just state that one must use UPS or FedEx?Last edited by ravifremont; 05-16-2017, 11:00 AM.

3. Yes, very confusing and to send things in different envelopes and get things back in different envelopes. Multiply that by 4 family members all with different scenarios. Very Very frustrating. Calling them is not much help either. Each time I call I get a different reply
