    Hi Everyone and CKGS team

I read many experiences on forum but still gave my honest try for OCI for my daughter though many colleagues told me don't waste time with CKGS and OCI system and go for visa, and my experience was not great.

I spent overall 4 hrs total time, completed all forms took printouts, it asked for photo of baby and to my surprise require 3 times thumb impression of minor (3 months old) many people are in same boat and shared horrible experience. And then I went to notary and sent through UPS with hefty fee

To my surprise one of the form "parental authorization form" I filled and took print, was claimed as missing, I can guarantee it was present in folder as I took a copy of everything, now CKGS wants me to send original through post and that too through $15 UPS next day air, why, why I cannot send through regular post such form it is very horrible.

I wish we raise this to Embassy and higher offices

It's best to scan all documents before sending them or making a copy for your own records - that way, you can go thro' them when this issue arises.

If you are afraid of CKGS service which ture that they don't know how to manage and created a huge mess. you can wait to submit next year, all visa, oci and renunciation will be handled only by the Embassy, no more outsourcing company like the worst company and management ever, CKGS and BLS.

The embassy is far more incompetent than CKGS. The SF embassy web site listed "Open house second Wednesday of the month to discuss oci and give suggestions...".

I phoned to confirm but nobody answered. I e-mailed with no reply. So I just showed up on the day listed. When I arrived they did not know about the open house. Told me to go back to ckgs. I kindly pointed out the web site advertising the open house.

I finally spoke to the chief consular officer. He refused to introduce himself or give me his name. "What do you want??". Very rude fellow. Guy could barely speak English. Then he accused me of lying on the application. Simply ridiculous.

I will give just one example of the kind of interaction I had with this blabbering idiot "Officer":
I mentioned straight away that I did not attend any school in India. All of my education was completed in USA. Hence, I cannot provide any graduation certificate. Said it twice.
He then looks me and asks angrily, "Do you have any graduation certificate??".

Just a very very bad experience with Indian bureaucracy and incompetence.

So continuing on my experience on this case, document missing was parental authorization form, they asked us to notarize this form which means mother and father signature costing $15 each like approx $30 and why it is needed is such that CKGS can take OCI stamped card/etc ridiculous amount to be paid and then on top of it I sent through regular post USPS (so folks do not pay for such forms overnight in case it is NOT urgent).
Mine shows received by CKGS on friday 2 days after I posted and still showing application on hold. Awaiting further progress but summary for you folks, read form carefully this form (parental authorization) requires 2 signature notary in additional to other notary

                Hi All,

I do agree the process for applying OCI is complicated like
                1) Filling the application on CKGS site and GOI sites takes some time
                2) Uploading scanned copies of few documents on GOI site
                3) Collating the documents (printing and getting notary)

My experience was if we do the above process without any errors, and has sent all required documents as asked with/without notary as per checklist, the process was smooth. I have done it for my two kids with NY Jurisdiction
                1) OCI in Lieu of PIO - 14 Days (Nov/Dec 2016)
                2) New OCI for New Born - 35 Days (June/Jul 2017)

CKGS was very responsive over email. I got response within 24 Hrs

                Thanks,
                Pavithara
