PIO to OCI conversion - US passport validity question

Hi,

Have a question on PIO to OCI conversion - US passport validity time. My kids US passport valid for next 7 months (expires in April 2018). Can I start filling the application and send to CKGS? will 7 months time frame is fine or do I need to get new passport?

Website shows min 6 months validity is needed.

if you have penidng receive your OCI from in lieu of PIO, until you completed the OCI match up process, and your passport still valid, you don't have to apply for new OCI with renewal passport. you definately can travel with expired passport plus current passport plus OCI card to travel.
