Oci approved here while kid is in india

Hi,

I applied for OCI for my kid in Oct-2017 while she was still in the US. Once we received the passport after the initial verification, she went to India using the visa which she already had. She is still there and its been more than 6 months now. She is going to be there for another 6 months. As she has gone there using the Visa only which allows maximum stay of 6 months, should I register somewhere in India or since we have already got the OCI it is not an issue? Please advise.

Technically, it is violation of the visa. Looks like you decided to use the OCI to bring her back. I am not sure what you are trying to do otherwise. Please clarify.

Visa vs oci

Let the Foreign Office closest to your home city know, and they will update the record accordingly. Not a big issue,provided you have updated your details, as your child entered India with a visa and not the OCI,so the visa is stored in the database. Otherwise you may need to make a quick trip out of India, and come back on OCI.

I also have same kind of situation. I have applied for OCI for my 7 months old baby before 35 days but I don't know when it comes. Due some family issues, I wanna go to my home in India for minimum 6 months or more as soon as possible. we have received the passport after the initial verification. Now using which visa I can go India for 6 months or more while OCI is being processed? If I will go india using visa and then my husband will courier OCI then I can stay as long as OCI is valid. Do I have to do anything in India or USA? Is it legal ? if not legal, Please provide alternative if you have any.
Please advise.
