  • OCI Renewal help - Query

    Hello,

If anyone may provide their help this would be much appreciated.

I got my OCI under the age of 18 as minor, received the OCI booklet and also had the OCI sticker in previous passport (foreign passport).

I am now over the age of 25, and have recently got a new passport (foreign passport)

Is it necessary (or rather compulsory) for me to get a renewal of the OCI?
Or am I able to travel to India with the existing OCI booklet and carry my old passport, with OCI sticker and new passport which has a new passport number?

Just noting that my OCI was granted when I was minor and has never been renewed. Only wondering since this is first time I have a new passport since I got OCI granted.

    Please help

    Get it

IMO, just get a new OCI. Get over with it. You are an adult now!! It is easy and you don't have to carry two passports. You don't have to carry an additional expired passport when you travel to India!!

This is what the CKGS says though,

For an applicant who is 20 years of age or younger, OCI must be RE-ISSUED EACH TIME A NEW PASSPORT is issued.

For an applicant who is 21 to 49 years of age, there is NO need to re-issue OCI documents each time a new passport is issued. However, if the applicant desires, he / she can request re-issue of the OCI document to update the new passport number.
