  • OCI in lieu of PIO for minor - question about self attesting copies of PIO card

    Hello,
I have completed all the requirements online for applying OCI card for my child. I have put together the physical documents to ship to CKGS.Just have to get the required documents notarized now.
My question is about self attesting the minor's PIO card. We are required to make a copy of the PIO card and self attest it. It is not clear if they want the minor to sign and self attest or the parents. Since my child is old enough to sign, I uploaded his signature where applicable on the Government of India website and also had him sign the "additional particulars form for OCI"

Since they had the minor applicant sign these forms, I am unsure if they want the minor to attest too. Could someone please clarify if they want the parents to self attest the child's PIO card or the child is required to self attest or is it both?

    Thank you in advance.

Just wanted to post an update on my own question :

I asked this question to CKGS and different peoole gave me different answers. First time, someone said the child signs and self attests. I called the second time as I had to a different question. I asked about self attesting again. Second time, the person explained to me that since the application is for a minor , the parents will self attest it. So now I had 2 different answers... so I decided to call the third time and go with whatever the third person would advice - as if choosing best 2 out of 3
Guess what? This guy tells me the parents and the child - all have to sign !!! Unbelievable!!
Do they provide any training or set of answers to the customer support people at CKGS? Not ONE consistent answer for the same question!!

I sent an email and the person replied that it is to be self-attested by parents. Atleast 1 common reply from CKGS!!

I did not self attest any copies. I followed what was in the check list document. My child, my spouse and I signed in only the places in the forms it asks you to sign.

Follow the document check list and get the document notarized where ever it says. For copies, just include copies. For original, send the original. For the child signature, if your child can write his/her name, ask her/him to write it. If they can't, put the thumb impression of the child (it says in the completed form).
