Do I need to submit original US passport with OCI application?

I am applying for OCI card for my newborn. Immihelp website says:
/oci-card/oci-documents.html
not to send original non-indian passport with the application

But when I look at the document checklist I downloaded from CKGS it says:
Along with the original, please also provide copies of the
following pages of your current valid passport :-
Information page that contains the picture and
personal details of the holder of the Passport.
Endorsement/amendment pages.
Passport should be valid for at least 8 months from
the date of submission of application CKGS.

So I am wondering if there has been a change in the process and if we need to send the original passport as part of the application?

As far as I know, yes original passport is required for submitting in Houston. It is typically returned in 1-2 weeks.

Yes, in Chicago

Yes, for Chicago consulate CKGS wants your Passport with the application. They verify and return it back in 3 days. I see other consulates have that as a separate step.
