  • How to work in India with OCI card

I do not have any Indian document except a OCI card. I was wondering if I am offered a job in India, do I need to apply for a PAN card and is it easy to get? How long is the process and can I apply from overseas or does it have to be in India. Do I need to apply for Aadhar card also? I have been offered a job by a friend of mine but I am not sure of the process. Can anyone advise on this please?

Check the OCI benefits webpage in MEA. You can work in India.

Apply for PAN card online. Check the info available in immihelp NRI page https://www.immihelp.com/nri/ Takes 2 to 3 months from the US.

You need to live in India for 6 months (I may be wrong) to get Aadhar card, but I get you can apply as soon as you get there.

    Good luck!

Thanks so much Liberty for your advice. I applied online and paid the application fees. I have been asked to print and post this application to a weird very long address in Pune with my OCI card. However there was also an online option but it wasn't allowing me click it. In that case I would not have needed to physically send this document. Just trying to figure this out. Any knowledge about it?

Yes, send it through mail. Send 3 times to get it delivered. Keep enough passport size photos. It has be small to fit in to the size they have in the form!! They told me to send by courier. Didn't want to spend $$ for courier. I kept sending it by regular mail. Took a long while. But got it.

Very poor website. Keep trying. You could use an American credit card, but the payment might not go through, as Visa rejected it as a spam charge. May be you can call your bank and notify them to accept that charge. I had an India debit card. That worked.

This is just my experience. May be other got a good experience.

Same here Liberty. Sent it by ordinary post. Let's see what happens. The payment went through in the first time though no problem with that. How long ago was it that you applied?
