applying for PIO card

Hi All,

I have 2month old son and planning to visit india in this month.
We haven't applied for PIO for my son.
If we apply PIO card in person at indian consulate, can we get it on the same day?
And also what are the documents we need to submit with application?

I appreciate your answers.

No, you can't get it on the same day. It takes around 3 weeks.

Hello,

Its very pain to apply PIO card in India, my baby is US citizen and i live in India and i applied for PIO card 2 months before visa expire...Home Ministry in India they asked me to send the all irrelavent documents, they took almost 3 months to grant PIO card, mean time my visa got expired, and they asked me to get visa extension first, also they asked me to get my daughters birth certificate attested from US consulate in india....they asked me to come Delhi for attested certificate to attest from Delhi police...Also FRRO in local cities are very corrupt, they asked you all unnessasary documents, its very pain to get PIO card in india...better you get it in US,
