i want to renew my passport.. what r the documents I need to submit for my status as H4 and all of the things and PIO card says that notorised copies ...what does it mean? can't self attested copies will not work.

you need the copies notarized, can be done at post office or mail boxes type of place just search for notary in yellow pages.
If you live in an apartment complex you will find them in the main office or in the office of ur spouse.
To prove H4 status you need to send a copy of ur visa/ notice of approvals/ and your spouses H1 docs.
You are not eligible for a PIO card.
