  • Help Required for paper work for new born

    Hi

I went through all the posts in all the various forums regarding applying for Indian/US passport for a US born child. Can someone please provide me some information in this regard based on their experience/knowledge? I am specifically looking for answers to the following queries:
    1. Which one would be recommended - US passport or Indian Passport?
I understand that even if we apply for Indian passport US citizenship will still be retained and we can go for a US passport anytime. So for purpose of ease of education etc in India, can we apply for Indian passport at present?

    2. Considering we are planning to go for US passport, which one among Indian Visa/PIO card/OCI be recommended in terms of lesser time for processing and greater privileges in India?

My son was born in US this month and we are planning to return back to India for good by July middle after all the paper work is processed for our child. We are trying to get the quickest method to get everything done so that we can return to India ASAP. So based on your experience can you advise me? Thanks a lot in advance for your assistance.

I think the thread below discusses the same issue.

Beyond that, I think it's your personal decision.

      1. It is your decision
      2. The fastest way is to get a visa for him. Getting PIO would be the next fastest and you can't get OCI by July. I would get the PIO card. You do not have to report every 6 months.
