I had my passport before I got married ( about 2 years back). I have to travel to USA for 2-3 months for work immediately. But my passport holds my surname before marraige i.e. "Karishma Joshi" and now I want to travel as "Karishma Patgaonkar"( with my husband's surname). So is this possible? I do have my marriage cetificate. Can I travel as "Karishma Patgaonkar" by keeping the old name itself and carrying a marraige certificate?

All you need to do is go to the nearest passport office with your marriage certificate. They will endorse on one of the blank pages your husband's name. In this way you would not need to change your name or get a new passport, etc. This is the standard practice. -
