  • Lost Indian Passport No in US

    I am an Indian citizen.

I have been in United States of America since 05 august 2007on Business visit to Atlanta.
I will travel back to India on 31 October 2007
On 5th of August while traveling through New York JFK Airportto Atlanta in Flight DL135 I lost my passport. I kept my passport inside the pocket which was located in front of my seat ,but due to air sickness somehow I missed to take my passport out of it . I realized it after I came out of the Aircraft, immediately I inform about the incident to the Delta Airlines official but they didn’t permit me to go back into the Aircraft. They advised me to report this to Delta Airlines Lost and found division. As per Delta Airline official instructions I reported to Delta Airlines Lost and Found division and also to the Atlanta airport Lost and found division, however So far no one has turned up my passport to them.
I have already informed the U.S. Consulate General in Delhi (India) and India Consulate in Houston.
    I have few questions
From where I have to apply for duplicate passport from US or from India ?

If you are in US now, you apply at the Indian consulate.

You can fly with new passport and the police report that your passport was lost.

There is no procedure to transfer visa. You will have to apply all over agian.
