Dual citizenship

Couple of weeks ago I had posted the query to you on application of PIO/OCI Card for my 3yr old child who qualifies for UK Citizenship and I am thankful for the help provided in that regard.

We want to hold a dual citizenship for our son as during the application of the British Passport, they have asked us to verify authorities of country in this case INDIA to check

It says the following

Warning on dual nationality. A person does not have to give up his or her present citizenship or nationality to become a British overseas territories citizen. But under the nationality laws of some countries a child could automatically lose his or her citizenship if he or she becomes a citizen of another country. If you are not sure about this, you should ask the authorities of the country concerned before you make an application.

Could you please let me know if my child when applying for UK passport loses his right for dual citizenship or if there a contact no where I can call and clarify my queries.

If you get any other citizenship, you loose Indian citizenship as India does not allow dual citizenship. It only allows PIO and OCI. OCI is not dual citizenship.

But we don’t have to submit Indian passport, is that correct for PIO

You have to submit your Indian passport to get it cancelled before you can get PIO.
