  • Passport Renewal - Question on Notarization !

I need to renew my Indian passport (sending by mail to SFO consulate). I received my EAD last month but still working on H1 for the same company.

Instrucations on SFO consulate website says that I should get my VISA / EAD cards notarized, if sending by mail. I have few questions and need your help.

    1) Should I send photocopy of only H1 (valid till 2010) OR both H1 and EAD?
(Am afraid that my picture on EAD card may NOT be clear on photocopy.. In this case, I-140 approval would be any good?)

    2) On what portion of photocopy document should I get notarized signature/stamp. Photocopy hardly have space for signatures/stamp. Should Notarization be on the front OR Can I get the stamp on backside of the photocopy?

    3) And, I believe, I should sign first to get notarized right?
    Please advise.

Your help would be greatly apprecaited. Thanks a lot.

    1. Copy of H1b should suffice if it is valid.
    2. Just have it notorized at the bottom. Does not matter. They don't care.
    3. You will sign in front of the Notary with a valid ID presented. Otherwise, they cannot notarize it.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
