Lost old Indian passport expired MANY YEARS AGO

I was a minor when my passport was issued in 1973. It was lost many years ago but I still have the passport number and date of issue (plus original of my mother's passport issued same day with note written in her passport confirming issue of my separate passport by Deputy Consul General). I need to go to Mexico on business immediatly within 2 weeks. How can I get passport issued in emergency basis? i HAVE THE Passport No. AND DATE OF ISSUE Issued 5-12-1973 in New York

With your reason, consulate will not issue a new passport based on emergency. Business travel is not an emaergency. Only life, illness or death is.
What did you do all these years without getting a new identity document? Are you still a citizen of India?

You took so many years to apply for a replacement and the consulate will take it's own sweet time to get the processing done as it is such an old record for them to pull it up.

Had no real reason to travel all these years

I am an Indian Citizen who nerver really had a need to leave the US all these years..hence the lapse in pursuing a passport etc...of course now I would like to first get the passport and then go throught the citizenship process so I do not have to worry about this stuff...thanks for your reply!
